What makes KaltBloc different from other ashtrays?
Most ashtrays — even expensive ones — are glass or ceramic. They look refined but feel fragile. KaltBloc pieces are made from cement: dense, heat-resistant, and built to sit on a surface and stay there. The weight and geometry are deliberate design choices, not side effects. And because every piece is handmade, you’re not buying something off an assembly line.
Are there variations between pieces?
Yes — and that’s intentional. Because each ashtray is individually hand-cast, you may notice slight differences in surface texture or tone from piece to piece. This is the nature of the material and the process. It means your piece is yours.
Is the cement treated or sealed?
No, the surface is left in its natural matte state for a raw, honest finish that develops character over time.
How do I clean it?
Wipe with a damp cloth. For residue, a soft brush works well. Avoid abrasive cleaners — they’re unnecessary and can affect the surface over time.
Is cement safe around heat?
Yes. Cement is highly heat-resistant and handles sustained heat without cracking, discoloring, or transferring warmth to the surface below.
Do you ship internationally?

What if my piece arrives damaged?
We pack every ashtray by hand and take the packaging seriously. If something arrives damaged, contact us at beck@kaltbloc.com with a photo and we’ll make it right.
